He met my mother in the Second World War, after which they moved to County Durham, near Darlington in the UK and married. Their child, me, was born in 1951, and when she was 5, they moved to Glasgow, with his job as a scrap metal merchant. When I was old enough, I helped him out at the yard, there were employees and offices workers too, I only helped out when one of the secretaries went on holiday, and it so relaxed, I had it real good, when I had nothing to do, I went into an unused office, used a couple of office chairs in there, and fell asleep on them.
